Island Center Counseling PLLC
Creating change comes from being curious and compassionate about all aspects of your inner world, the thoughts, feelings, and perceptions that present as problematic. The most painful internal experiences can be transformed as your awareness turns inward to explore their origins and meanings. I know this to be true from both experience and observation as clients find that what appear to be hindrances can become sources of growth and clarity. All the answers come from within you and together we will create an approach that addresses your needs and goals.
My approach is solution focused and person centered. I’ve had training in Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I enjoy supporting people who have concerns across the spectrum of mood and thought disorders. I will work with you to find the strategies that best address what you need.
I am also very interested in issues with creativity and imagination and in helping clients move through the barriers that keep them from fully expressing themselves. Counseling can help prepare us for the risks and rewards of sharing ourselves and our creations with the world.
I have worked extensively with First Responders and am familiar with the issues they experience.
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience in counseling and crisis intervention. I have an M.F.A. from Columbia University and an M.S.W. from the University of Washington.
I do sessions on-line through the platform, Doxy.me. I offer a free 15 minute consultation to decide if we’re a good fit as partners to explore the possibilities that live inside you.
