Therapists & Specialties

Our members represent a wide range of professional disciplines, including psychology, psychiatry, social work, marriage & family therapy, mental health counseling and nursing among others.

This information is provided by the members and is updated from time to time.

To search for therapists by the populations with whom they work, by the issue or concern you are having or by treatment modality (therapeutic approach) simply use the Search options on the left to narrow your choices. Some concerns (for example depression, anxiety, and relationship issues) are so commonly encountered by therapists that they are not listed here as separate specialties.

A Note on Finding a Therapist:

Most therapists have availability that can shift quickly with periodic openings. If you are unable to connect with a therapist with openings for new clients, we encourage you to continue to reach out to other therapists in this directory (or elsewhere) until you are successful. Therapists without availability may be able to offer referral information to help you in your search.

A Guideline on Different Levels of Care:

The Bainbridge Psychotherapy Guild provides a directory for Outpatient therapists.

Some examples of Outpatient Care are:

  • Individual or family therapy (typically weekly or biweekly)
  • Medication evaluation or management
  • Psychological evaluations
  • Group therapy
  • 12 step programs

When an individual or family is in crisis, then a higher level of care may be needed.

Some examples of Higher Levels of Care are:

  • Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs)
    • IOPs may include individual, family and group therapy 2-5 days per week for a set amount of time (often 4-6 weeks).
  • Partial Hospitalization
    • Often includes individual, family and group therapy 5-7 days per week, psychiatry and medication management typically included.
  • Inpatient Care
    • Acute Inpatient Care – offers short-term 24-hour care in a hospital setting for those at high risk, typically lasts 3-5 days.
    • Residential Care – longer term 24-hour care with individual, family and group therapy in a residential facility. Programs vary, and last a set number of weeks or months.
